Eglish secured the U14 Grade 1 double

Eglish secured the U14 Grade 1 double this afternoon in an entertaining game at Fr Peter Campbell Park in Coalisland.

Similar to the teams championship Semi-Final a few weeks back it was the victors ability to find the net which proved crucial.

Ardboe had built up an early 3-0 lead with points from Ciaran McKeown, Conan Doris and Odhran Coleman before Eglish opened their account on the 16th minute with a score from Ryan Gildernew.

The influential Coleman, wearing 8 but positioned at full forward set Luke Muldoon up for a lovely score to restore Ardboes 3 point advantage. However, Brian Og McGuckin began to settle into the game as he hit a brace of frees putting the minimum between the sides.

Ardboe responded impressively, with four unanswered points through Tommy O’Hare, Daire McKeown, Brogan Devlin and Coleman, six different scorers for their side in the opening half. McGuckin had the final say of the half, as he sent over an Eglish free to leave it 0-8 to 0-4 at half time.

Two minutes into the second half Ethan Gildernew hit the Ardboe net and when man of the match Matthew Daly got his first point of the afternoon, it was game on as he drew the sides level. Coleman and Mcguckin exchanged frees, before Coleman again put Ardboe in front but McGuckin immediately replied with an outstanding score from a difficult angle from play.

Ardboe had just registered their fourth wide of the second half as a McGuckin free gave the winners the lead for the first time on the 51st minute. When Daly got forward to hit his second from distance it inspired his side, with Daithi Corrigan and McGuckin splitting the posts from play to open up a four point lead. At this stage Ardboe lost their goalkeeper to a black card, before Midfielder Matthew Daly ended the game as a contest as he fisted a high ball to the Ardboe net and hard working wing forward Senan Donnelly complimented his afternoons work when he hit a quick fire 1-1 in the final minute, securing Eglish first ever U14 Grafe 1 double with a 3-13 to 0-11 victory.

U16s clinch Grade 2 League

Eglish 3-9 Greencastle 0-6

Eglish are grade 2 U16 league champions for 2023 after they justified their favourites tag with a nine point victory over a gallant Greencastle side at Garvaghey on Friday evening.

There was little between the sides for most of the game but the winners always looked the stronger side and two second half goals ultimately put the game beyond reach of Greencastle. Midfielder Matthew Daly grabbed an early goal for Eglish but Greencastle responded with points from Caolan Treacy and Sean Og Teague. Brian Og McGuckin and Ronan Quinn swapped points with Shane Molloy before Eglish finished the half strongly with scores from McGuckin, Cody Gallagher and Karol Donnelly to lead 1-8 to 0-5 at the break.

Greencastle began the second half on the front foot but they kicked five wides and that was to come back to cost them. All they had to show for that spell of dominance was a Treacy point which also proved to be their last of the game. Eglish themselves managed only a single second half point via McGuckin but a Rory O’Donnell goal left them well in control before James Daly converted a late penalty to put the icing on the cake.

Due to circumstances outside of our control all ticket requests must now be made by no later than tomorrow Thursday at 12 noon.

Ticket prices:

€50 per adult stand and €35 for terrace.

The juvenile rate for stand tickets (up to U16) will be €10. Each Club can be allocated up to 12 juvenile stand tickets. Each Club can be allocated up to 18 terrace tickets. Stand tickets will be available in pods of 2, 3, 4, or 5.

Please state what ticket you are requesting e.g. stand or terrace at the time of request.

Please note that in the event of orders being in excess of the total availability, the Club will be requested to make a reduction in its order.

Lotto resumes Monday 19th April

We plan to resume our weekly Lotto in April 2021. We are however putting in place measures to reduce the amount of physical
contact. The following options will be available to play the lotto.

1. Online – The Lotto can be played online by following the link on www.eglishgac.com. Online
you can play for 14, 28 or 47 weeks at a time, play multiple lines and set up an
auto renew so you never miss a draw again.

2. Books will be placed in local businesses, McCann’s Shop and Post Office, Daly’s
Spar, Orange Box, Country Fry, Eglish Builders and Barrett’s Concrete. If you are
regular in any of these places you can play as normal.

3. We will leave you an envelope, on which you can mark your numbers and play
for 5, 10 or 20 weeks. We will call only when it is time to renew your
subscription.
