Adult Football

Seniors completed their League season on Sunday, travelling to Cookstown for their final game. The significance of this game as the there was no opportunity to improve league position. Cookstown came out winners on a score-line of Cookstown 2-10 Eglish 0-12. Next up for the seniors is the Championship, currently scheduled for Saturday 16th at 12.30 in Pomeroy.

Reserve Football has been completed for the season. It finished with mixed fortunes. Winning the League with a game to spare, but losing out to Dungannon in the Championship Final, score Eglish 3-06 Dungannon 2-15.

Under 21’s progressed to the Championship final last week with a semi-final win over Edendork, Eglish 8-18 Edendork 3-14. The final will be against Moy.

Youth Football

Under 16’s continue their League Campaign. Hosting Donaghmore, in Pairc Chormaic, on Thursday evening at 7.00pm. They then travel to Cookstown on Monday evening for their final league game.

Other

Anyone interested in taking part in Scor na nOg should make Contact with Sean Byrne, competitions commence in October and Competitors must be Under 17 for 2017.

Friday night will see the Launch “The Pursuit of Perfection, The Life, Death and Legacy of Cormac McAnallen”. Special guests will be Peter Canavan, 2003 Tyrone Senior Football Team Captain. Also present will be All Ireland winning Under 17 Players Ethan Jordan and Jack Gibney, and Under 17 Team Manager Colin Holmes. Action commences at 8.00pm and light refreshments will be served.

Adult Football

There was no Senior action at the weekend. The next round of League games will not be until after the Ulster Senior Football Final.
The Under 21 team completed their group games on Thursday with a comfortable win over Kildress

Youth Football

Under 16 Training continues on Saturdays at 12.30pm, and has now commenced on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7.00pm. Competitions due to start on 20th July.

Og Sport Finals were held on Wednesday in Garvaghey. The Boys dug deep in both games to defeat Newtownstewart, in semifinal, and Drumragh, in final.

There will be no Under 6, 8 & 10 Football training on the evening of 14th of July. Training will resume as normal on Thursday 21st July.

This week saw the first edition of “An Eaglais Le Cheile” Summer Camp. Thanks must go to all who made it such a success.

Other

The seniors wrapped up their Derry League campaign with a strong win away to Castledawson last Wednesday evening.

The Tyrone League begins Wednesday 29th when they host Brocagh in Fr Connolly Park at 8pm.

Post Primary Championship Final

All roads lead to Derrylaughan on Wednesday night when the post primary girls take on Edendork in the Bridie McMenamin Championship Final! After drawing in the league a couple of weeks ago, this game is expected to be a thriller. Throw in is at 7.30pm and the team would love your support! Best wishes to the management and players!

Tiny Tots

Thanks to Brocagh Camogie Club who hosted the June Go Games on Saturday past. Many thanks also for the refreshments afterwards.

This week, there will be no training for U6 as U8 and U10 travel to Garvaghy to play in the mini games. Girls to be at the pitch for 9am and will return at 12.30pm. Again, please bring water and a small snack and clothing suitable for the weather.

Reminder: Sticks can be bought from the club for a cost of £5 or £10 depending on size. Please get in touch with any of the coaches on Saturday morning if you would like to order one.

Huge congratulation to senior player Ciara Donnelly who represented Eglish in the Tyrone Puc Fada and then went on to compete in Ulster winning the entire thing!

Congratulations also to Laura Mason who was awarded the Tyrone U18 player of the Year at a recent reception in Kelly’s Inn – well done Laura, definitely one to watch for the future!

U16 Ulster Championship

Good luck to the U16 Tyrone camogie team, including the Eglish representatives who take on Donegal in the Ulster Championship this Sunday 3rd July. Game is scheduled to take place in Burt, throw in at 12.30pm.

Baby News

The club would like to congratulate club member Leanne Daly and Adrian O’Neill on the recent birth of their baby boy Cormac.

Adult Football

Galbally came to Fr Connolly Park on Sunday for senior and reserve games. The Reserves came away with a draw, while the Seniors went down by three. Result: Senior Eglish 1-09 Galbally 1-12.

The Under 21 team return to action on Saturday, hosting Kildres in Fr Connolly park at 6.00pm. This is followed up by a trip to the Washingbay on Tuesday evening to play Derrylaughan, in the final group game.

Under 16 Training continues on Saturdays at 12.30pm, and has now commenced on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7.00pm. Competitions due to start after July Holidays.

Og Sport First round games took place on Wed 29^th June in Stewartstown. The boys were successful and won their group. They now proceed to the finals in Garvaghey on Wednesday 6^{th July.}

Under 6, 8 & Football continues on Thursday evening at 6.15pm in Fr Connolly Park. This will be the last session ahead of the holiday break. There will be no training on the evenings of 7^th and 14^th of July. Training will resume as normal on Thursday 21^st July.

This year the club will be running our own “An Eaglais Le Chéile” Summer Camp. This will take place from 4th-7th July. Commencing daily at 10:00am in Fr Connolly Park. Along with the regular football coaching we will be introducing the children to all the games in the association. This combined with other Cultural, Environmental and Heritage aspects should help make this a camp to with a difference. Boys and Girls can register at the Training this Thursday evening. Costs are as follows: one Child £30, two Children £50 (£25 each) and three children £60 (£20 each). Can all parents please complete and return their consent form. Copies will be available at Training this Thursday.

Adult Football

There was no senior action at the weekend, on account of the Ulster Football Championship game between Cavan and Tyrone. As that game ended level there has been a change to the League fixture this coming weekend. We now play Galbally at home. Games are at the regular times of 2.15pm and 3.45pm on Sunday in Fr Connolly Park.

The Under 21 team have played two games in the past week. On Saturday evening they recorded a one point win over Brackaville. Result Eglish 3-16 Brackaville 3-15. This was followed up by victory of the same margin over Beragh. Result Beragh 0-19 Eglish 4-08. Next up are Kildress on 2^nd July in Fr Connolly Park.

Youth Football

The under 14 boys travelled to Drumragh on Thursday past for their Championship final against Strabane. Unfortunately they lost out to what was a much physically stronger Strabane team. However heads can be held high as this was a very gritty performance, with everyone performing to their full potential. And for the width of the crossbar, on several occasions, the result may have been very different. Result Eglish 1-12 Strabane 4-09.

Under 14 Championship Final Team

Under 16 Training continues on Saturdays at 12.30pm, and has now commenced on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7.00pm. Competitions due to start after July Holidays.

Og Sport First round games take place on Wed 29^th June, venue is yet to be confirmed.

Under 12 Go Games continue on Wednesday evening as the boys travel to Carrickmore.

Under 6, 8 & 10 Football continues on Thursday evening at 6.15pm in Fr Connolly Park, with the Under 10s having a blitz this Saturday. Well done to the lads that took part in tournaments on Saturday, with one team coming home as divisional winners in Carryduff and Under 12’s losing out in quarterfinals in Aghaloo.

Finally Commiserations to the Under 14 Camogie girls. Losing out in the Final of the All-Ireland Feile in Tipperary. Having finished top of their group on Saturday morning they progressed to the Quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon and semi on Saturday evening. They went down to a very strong Cillard side on Sunday morning on a score-line of Eglish 2-04 Cillard 2-07. Cillard had only conceded two points in the competition prior to the final. Things are looking good for Camogie in Eglish.

First up on Friday afternoon for the Eglish girls was Burgess Duharra from Tipperary. Shaking off any tiredness they had from the journey down they recorded a strong win of 1-07 to 0-03.

Later that evening they took on a physical Westport side, that showed their dominance throughout the game, winning 2-08 to 1-01.

Saturday morning was the time to take on the host club Drom/Inch.  Eglish narrowly won the close encounter, final score 1-04 to 1-01.

With two wins from three, Eglish topped their group and proceeded to the cup quarter final, Taking on Rockwell Rovers, another Tipperary team,  Eglish emerged Victors on a score-line of 5-08 to 4-0 in what was a skilful encounter.

The semifinal, on Saturday evening, against Na Brideoga of Mayo was another tough game with both teams fighting for domination. However the Eglish girls dug deep and at the final whistle they had deservedly booked their place in the Cup Final the next morning! Final score: Eglish  2-06 Na Brideoga 3-00.

On Sunday morning, the Eglish girls took to the pitch Final against Cillard, from Co Kerry. With tired legs, and sore limbs, from the battles in the previous day’s games, Eglish found it tough from the beginning and were down 1-07 – 1-0 at half time. In the second half however, the girls came back out with grit and determination to do all that they could to secure the win, leaving everything on the pitch. Fighting back to just a 3 point margin it seemed that Eglish were going to get over the line but unfortunately the final whistle went just as they were settling into the game.

Disappointment and tears all around for the whole team but everyone in the Club and County are so proud of how the girls represented us, both on and off the pitch. Despite not coming home with a winners medal, the girls have made friendships and memories that they can keep with them forever.

Eglish and Drom/Inch Feile teams

Eglish Camogie Club would like to thank Drom/Inch Club who hosted us all weekend and for their warmth and kindness towards payers and parents alike.

The Club would also like to pay special thanks to coaches Leona, Barry and Brenda who travelled with the girls and for their fantastic training all year that was instrumental to the girls’ success in the tournament. Many thanks also to the Feile committee and parents who worked tirelessly for months before in order to fundraise for the weekend. And finally, to all those parents, friends and family members who made the trip to Tipperary to encourage our girls and support our club, we are truly grateful for your continued commitment to the club and the sport we love.

Adult Football

Seniors commenced their League campaign last Tuesday, when we hosted Omagh in Pairc Chormaic. Result, Eglish 2-09 Omagh 2-19. Having hosted the 2014 County Champions on Tuesday we travelled to the home of 2015 County Champions, Trillick, on Sunday. This was the first official outing for the reserves for the year. Unfortunately neither team came home with the points. Results were Seniors Trilick 0-13 Eglish 0-12, Reserve Trillick 3-12 Eglish 0-10.

As National Football League Finals are on this weekend the next Senior outing is on Sunday 1^st May, when we make the journey to Killyclogher, games currently scheduled for the normal times of 2.15 and 3.45.

Youth Football

There was no Minor activity last week, but preparations continue for their championship quarterfinal against Stewartstown.

The Under 14 team travelled to Moortown on Friday evening and restored their winning ways with a three point victory, final score Moortown 6-11 Eglish 6-14. This Friday, 22^nd, the Under 14 make the journey back to the loughshore, Ardboe is the destination on this occasion, throw in 7.00pm

Having been postponed last week the Feile will now take place in Eglish on Tuesday 19^th. We will be hosting Dungannon and Kildress in Fr Connolly Park. First game commences at 6.45pm.

Under 6, 8 & 10 Football continues on Thursday 6^th at 6pm in Fr Connolly Park.

Youth teams are currently selling entries for a guess the score competition, the game is Sunday’s NFL Division 2 final.

Other

The Club Youth Officer, Conall Martin, and Children’s Officer, Annette McGleenan, are hosting a workshop on Wednesday 20^th for all youth players between 12 and 18, coaches and parents. The workshops cover the following topics, “Sportsmanship and the Club Ethos” and “Building Mental Strength”. The first session will commence at 7.00pm, each session lasts 45min and there will be refreshments between workshops.

The Cormac Run 2016 is taking place on Saturday 23^rd April. Registration from 10.00am with the off at 11.00am. There are two courses 5k and 10k. For further details and preregistration please visit cormacrun.org.

Caman Tir Eoghain at Benburb

Caman Tir Eoghain is coming to your area, the programme will be hosted at the 3G facility in Benburb. This programme is targeted at introducing Hurling to Primary School children between the ages of 7 and 11. The sessions will run for 6 weeks, there is a one of fee of £10 and each participating child will receive a Hurl and Sliotar.

Senior League action commences on Tuesday evening, when we host Omagh in the first game of the League. Throw in is at 8.00pm in Pairc Chormaic. There will only be a Senior game played, the Reserve game will be scheduled to be played at a later date. The second game in the League is on Sunday when we travel to Trillick, Senior game is at 3.45pm and this is preceded by the Reserve game at 2.15pm.

Youth Football

Friday evening saw the Minors play their final League game, hosting Stewartstown in Fr Connolly Park. Unfortunately they were on the wrong side of the three point margin, final score Eglish 3-07 Stewartstown 3-10.

The under 14 game was final played last week, at the third attempt, but unfortunately the luck did not come to Eglish as we came second to a very strong Dungannon team. Final Score Eglish 3-05 Dungannon 4-12. Next up for the Under 14 is the rearranged Feile Peil na nOg, details to follow.

Under 6, 8 & 10 Football continues on Thursday 6th at 6pm in Fr Connolly Park.

As part of the development of Hurling in the County, Caman Tir Eoghain Coaching sessions for primary school children will commence on Monday 18 April, at 6.00pm in the all-weather MUGA in Benburb. This is a six week programme, there is an initial one of fee of £10 and each child receives and Hurley and Sliotar.

Saturday evening past all roads lead to Monaghan for a night of celebration to mark the clubs Diamond Jubilee. Special recognition was given to the All County League Division 1 winning team of 1976. Congratulations to all the award winners. Amongst the highlights of the night was the rendition by the bard of Cullenramor.

EGLISH CAMOGIE NOTES – 04/04/16

Anniversary Gala Ball
This Saturday night, Eglish Club Gaels get on their glad rags and head to the Hillgrove in Monaghan for a night of celebrations! Drinks reception begins at 6pm so please arrive early and make the most of what is sure to be a terrific night!

Post Primary
The post primary are away to Dungannon in the league on Friday 8th April, throw in at 6pm.

U16 League
The U16s begin their league campaign on Wednesday evening at 7pm away to Derrytresk.

Tyrone Minor Success
Congratulations to the county minors who defeated Monaghan 5-06 to 3-03 in Monaghan on Sunday afternoon in the Ulster minor shield competition.
They now play Donegal on Sunday 10th in Garvaghey, time TBC.

Membership
Club membership is now due and must be paid in the next couple of weeks to meet the submission deadline. Senior Players – £35, Students £25, Non-playing members and U18s, £20.

Tiny Tots Training
Tiny tots training will begin on Saturday 16th April 10am – 11am at Father Connolly pitch and will continue every Saturday until September with Go Game Blitzes once a month. This training is geared towards girls from P1 to U10. Any P1s wishing to come along to training must be accompanied by a guardian for the entire hour. We would love is any other parents or guardians would be willing to come on board and help out this year as we have large numbers and additional help is hugely beneficial!

Adult Football

Following the Easter break Senior preparations continue for the opening of the All County League on the weekend of 10th April. Currently the opening game against Omagh is scheduled for Sunday at 3.45pm (Reserve 2.15pm) in Fr Connolly Park. However keep your ears open as this may change as the week progress.

Youth Football

There was no Under 14 action at the weekend. Their next game is on Wednesday night against Dungannon, game is in Fr Connolly Park at 7.00pm. On Saturday they make the short trip to Dungannon for the first round of the Feile Peil na nOg, first game is against the hosts at 10.30am.

On Tuesday the Minors hosted Clonoe in Pairc Chormaic, Final result Eglish 2-09 Clonoe 3-12. This weekend Kildress will be the visitors on Friday evening, throw in 7.00pm.

Saturday evening the clubs’ Jubilee Banquet takes place in “The Hillgrove Hotel”, Monaghan, and I hope everyone has made their booking with the various beautifying establishments in the parish. If you need any details please contact Frankie. The evening kicks off with a reception at 6.00pm, Dinner at 7.00 and Music until late. Kieran has promised not to talk for too long. Dress code is Black Tie.
