Under 16 Camogs win Tyrone Championship

Championship Winners!

Eglish played a tough game against Dungannon in the final of their Championship in Edendork on Sunday 12th September in front of great club support!

The Eglish girls started the stronger with a goal and a point but it wasn’t long until Dungannon stepped it up.  Eglish had the wind advantage in the first half but struggled to make strong use of it and the defence were tested on a number of occasions.  There were a few more scores for both teams before the break which left Eglish going in slightly on top.

The 2nd half saw a tough encounter with Eglish defending against a strong wind and the Eglish Keeper was kept on her toes pulling of a number of great saves.  Dungannon evened the score with a well struck goal and the game stayed level for over 20 minutes in the 2nd half.  Both teams fought hard with neither wanting to lose out however Eglish’s hard work and discipline in the centre part of the field saw a great goal being scored with a few minutes remaining on the clock.  Eglish got on top in this period and worked hard not to let their lead go and although Dungannon had a number of chances the Eglish defence remained tight to let nothing in!  There were a number of outstanding players for Eglish in these tough conditions but overall this was a fantastic team effort.

Eglish Captains Maebh McGleenan and Niamh McNulty lifted the cup and spoke a few humble words relaying thanks to Edendork GAA and referee Fionnula McGrath and the Dungannon team on a great game.

Congratulations to Niamh McNulty was a well deserved winner of the player of the match award.
