Eglish beat Donaghmore tonight on a scoreline of 0-9 to 0-7. Eglish playing with the breeze in the first half opened their account first from the boot of Brendan Donnelly inside the first minute with a massive score from 40 yards. Shane Mulgrew kicked Donaghmore first score, a nice score with outside of the boot from 25 yards after 12 minutes followed by a free from Dasun Quinn. Connor Mc Kenna replaced Martin McMcCann and made an immediate impact riding a few challenges down the line to feed Peter McCann who swung the ball over the bar to leave a half time score of 0:5 to 0:2.
Eglish picked up where the left off before half time with Gregory Jordan kicking the first point of second half, with Connor McKenna tagging on a good score soon after. Donaghmore then came more into the game and rattled off three scores in a row to leave just a point between them 0-7 to 0-6, courtesy off Niall McKenna, Shane Mulgrew and Dasun Quinn. The game did get a bit sloppy with both teams guilty of giving away the ball but Phillip Barker who was introduced at half time was doing a lot good work in midfield set Brendan Donnelly off on a great solo run finished with a 30 yard score. The final minutes were frantic but the defence held strong and Ciaran Colton sealed the victory with the final score of the game after great work by Conall Mc Nulty.
