EGLISH ST. PATRICK’S CAMOGIE CLUB NOTES

Senior Results/Fixtures

The senior team continued their winning ways when they defeated Dungannon in the Tyrone All County league.

In the Derry league the seniors suffered a defeat to Ballinderry, final score 2-10 to 0-7.

The seniors play in the Derry league this week with an away game to Bellaghy on Friday 10th June.

U14 Championship

Eglish were at home to Eire Og in the quarter final of the U14 Championship last Monday.  After being defeated by Eire Og in the first round of the league they were keen to reverse that result in order to make the semi-final stage of the Championship.  The game started slowly with the Eglish girls’ having the majority of possession but finding it difficult to take their scores.  After 20 minutes, midfielder Leanne Donnelly found the net with a fantastic strike off her left.  Just two minutes later, fellow midfielder Alanna Muldoon scored another goal as a result of well taken free by center half back Shelly McVeigh. Before half time, Laura Mason and Alanna Muldoon combined well with a series of passes leading to an excellent point taken by Alanna bringing the midfielder’s tally to 1-1.

The second half was much quieter on the scoring front with the Eglish girls defending tirelessly to ensure that Eire Og did not creep up on their early lead and praise must be awarded to goalkeeper Una Barrett and the rest of the defence for keeping Carrickmore scoreless throughout the game.  They now play Derrytresk in the semi final.

The game finished 2-01 to 0-00. Team as follows: Una Barrett, Aine McVeigh, Caoimhe Goodfellow, Michelle McGready, Catherine Muldoon, Shelly McVeigh, Erin McCann, Alanna Muldoon, Leanne Donnelly, Catherine Donnelly, Cailin Murtagh, Laura Mason, Aine Curran, Casey Gallagher, Jordan Fay. Megan Mason for Aine McVeigh, Amy Barrett for Jordan Fay, Niamh McMeel for Michelle McGready
